Dr. Whit Lord, president of Lord Eye Centers, Inc., attended the University of Georgia for his undergraduate studies. He received his doctorate of optometry at the southern college of Optometry in Memphis, TN.

He opened the first Lord Eye Center in Statesboro, Georgia in 1978. He and his wife Lurue, a licensed optician, have worked together as Lord Eye Center has expanded to five additional locations in southeast/coastal Georgia. Dr. Lord was appointed to serve on the Georgia State Board of Examiners in Optometry by Governor Zeil Miller in 1992. He was reappointed by Governor Sonny Purdue and continues to serve on the board today.

Dr. Lord serves on the editorial board of "Optometric Management Magazine," the nation's most widely read optometric business publication and is on the advisory panel for some of the nation's largest contact lens manufacturers. He has also participated in the clinical trials of numerous newly developed contact lenses for several contact lens manufacturers.
